Meh. For a novel with such strong critical praise, Case Histories was surprisingly dull. Nearly all of the characters in the titular histories are cartoonish and extremely unsympathetic. The protagonist, a private investigator, is more interesting, but it's quite a lot of pages before we really get to know him. I'm not a frequent reader of crime novels, so perhaps I'm not the best judge of them, but I found this one disappointing.
